A Model Sustainable Water Management Project by ARC WATER ENERGY in Karbala, Iraq
ARC WATER ENERGY will implement a comprehensive water management system to protect the future of water for the largest Petrochemical Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) in Karbala, Iraq.
The project aims to meet both the domestic and process water needs of the industrial facilities operating within the OIZ, and to recover wastewater in an environmentally friendly manner. At the heart of the facility lies advanced water treatment technologies and a sustainability vision.
Pure Water Production – Advanced Treatment from Well Water:
The extracted well water is subjected to a multi-stage filtration process. Through advanced filtration, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems, high-quality process and domestic water is produced.
Wastewater Recovery:
Wastewater and rainwater generated by industrial activities are treated through coarse and fine screens, DAF systems, and chemical treatment processes.
Then, the water is passed through a Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) system providing advanced biological treatment, ensuring it meets the highest discharge standards.
Water Reuse:
As part of the environmentally conscious approach, the water obtained from advanced treatment is redirected to the OIZ’s process water reservoir. In this way, approximately 70% of the industrial facilities’ water demand is met through recycled water.
Sludge Management and Environmental Impact:
High-tech sludge dewatering units established within the project are designed to ensure waste disposal without harming the environment.
This project is not only an engineering achievement, but also a strategic step towards the conservation of water resources and the reduction of carbon and water footprints in the region.
ARC WATER ENERGY continues to contribute to the region and future generations by combining engineering excellence with environmental awareness.
